WHEN A WELL-KNOWN…
fast food eatery was forced to place a disclaimer on the lids of cups designed for the intent and purpose to hold, carry and convey hot beverages, many of us thought the world had gone uber mad. How absolutely ludicrous: to be required to point out the painfully obvious!
Yet, if we think about the eternal plight of man, the gospel declares that the only true wisdom is from God, only wise. Even our salvation by God and for God, through God’s only Son, Jesus Christ, should be ridiculously obvious. The heavens declare God’s glory, and the atmosphere, including the air that we breathe, displays His incredible handiwork (Psalm 19:1); He has spoken through His prophets to declare His sole salvation for the souls of lost men (Hebrews 1:1); and ultimately sent the Christ to propitiate salvation (Romans 3:24-25); yet, men refuse, reject and even ridicule the majesty of God’s Redeemer, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This displays our depravity apart from the goodness that is God.
Therefore, our shame, which is our fallen nature apart from the grace of God in Jesus Christ, will be brought to light on every page of this blog via the following disclaimer:
My thoughts conveyed in this blog may be moderately opinionated because the righteousness I have as a saved sinner is an imputed righteousness. The only righteous man that has ever lived is Jesus of Nazareth, wholly pleasing to His Father in every way, especially while Christ suffered the wrath for sins He did not commit when hanging upon Calvary’s tree.
Yet, as a sinner saved by grace, making every effort by God’s grace to honor the gospel that has been revealed to me, exalting the Savior, Jesus Christ, who has bled and died for me, and glorifying God who has loved me with an everlasting love, I encourage all sinners saved by grace to endeavor to honor father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise. Parental guidance is suggested for this blog…
nevertheless, for the Christian, parental guidance is commanded by God for every area of our children’s lives; not as meddlers or overlords, but as those reflecting the love of our heavenly Father:
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” —Ephesians 6:4
If we fulfill our part, by God’s grace, to guide our children and teach them of the blessed truths of God’s holiness and righteousness when we sit with them in our homes, when we walk with them in our travels, as they lie down to sleep, and as they rise when they wake; if submissive to God’s holy will and empowered by His holy truth so that his truth is tied to all that we do, as if a sign upon our hands, and in all that we think, as if frontlets upon our eyes (Deuteronomy 6:6-8), then perhaps, by God’s grace, our children and children’s children can fulfill God’s command to honor their parents all the days of their lives; and that God using us as the means and instruments for His glory, we will inscribe His glory upon the posts of our homes and upon the gates of our communities (Deuteronomy 6:9).
