He Ran and Worshipped Christ

“But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.”Mark 5:6, 7

We should never allow ourselves to think that just because we have approached near the Lord to worship Him that we have served Him and honored Him. Even in the most wretched villainy of a legion of demons, in the presence of the Almighty Christ they run to worship Him because Jesus is God and He is worthy of all worship, as it is written in Philippians 2:10-11,

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

True spiritual worship comes, by the mercy of God, as a soul presents himself a living sacrifice before the Lord; not merely to escape the difficulties of this life; not merely to escape torment of spiritual uncertainties; not merely to escape that future hell reserved for the devil and his angels; but because the beauty and majesty of the perfect and precious Son of God has been revealed in the soul regenerated by God’s Spirit. Does your worship spring forth from revelation truth?

True spiritual worship comes through faith, trusting in the sufficiency of Christ’s atoning death for salvation; trusting in the sufficiency of God’s infallible Word for sanctification; trusting in the promise of Christ’s return for glorification. Does your worship spring forth from absolute abandon to God in Christ?
