“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” —Jeremiah 31:25, ESV
Sin, the flesh, and the world will weary the soul in whom the Lord is efficaciously calling by His Spirit. Yet, God will quench the thirst; He will fill the soul with overflowing kindness. And why not? The LORD Almighty declares, “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” (Jeremiah 31:3). He draws you with His incredible mercy for God loves you with an everlasting love.
An everlasting love is foreign to the carnal mind; yet God promises His redeemed an incredible blessing in this love. Until we are glorified, the fullness of Christ’s love is limited to the vessel being filled. It is a love that surpasses the very breadth, and length, and depth, and height of our knowledge, Ephesians 3:17-19,
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Until that day when the Lord Christ returns, our best and clearest understanding of God’s everlasting love can only be found in the crucifixion of God’s only Son according to the scriptures. Jehovah spared no expense to redeem His elect by sacrificing the most precious soul, the most excellent Person, and the most majestic life that ever walked the planet, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Oh, my soul! That’s love everlasting!
