As They Were Able

“And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.” —Mark 4:33

When Jesus taught the parable of the sower and the seeds, His disciples didn’t understand it. “And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables” (Mark 4:10, ESV). The Lord told them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that ‘they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven’” (Mark 4:11-12, ESV).

“And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.” —Joshua 21:43

Although the promise of this land was given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob it was fulfilled in their descendents: to Abraham in Genesis 12:7,
